Robert Burns’ master stone mason father-in-law, James Armour, worked on the construction of the late 18th century Howford Bridge. Engraved by W. J. Cooke after the original by David Octavius Hill (1802-1870) for The Poetical Works of Robert Burns published by Goombridge and Sons 1859. This was a reprint of an earlier book published in 1835 by James Cochrane and Co. Waterloo Place, Edinburgh.
