Description

An engraved facsimile of one of several portraits originally etched by Wenceslaus Hollar, which was part of a larger print of 1647 named Formation of a Battallion in the Field. The portraits were arranged along the top of the print. The plate was then cut up to provide the individual portraits. In this state the portraits were published in England’s Worthies, Under Whom all the Civill and Bloody Warres since Anno 1642, to Anno 1647, are related by John Vicars, 1647. This print is from the 1845 edition published by John Russell Smith, London.
