France, Pont St Benezet and Villeneuve from Avignon
Description
Also known as the Pont d’Avignon, the famous medieval bridge in the town of Avignon, in southern France. The bridge was the inspiration for the song ‘Sur le pont d’Avignon’ and is considered a landmark of the city.
Drawn by the English artist James Duffield Harding (1798-1863), and engraved by J. H. Kernot for ‘The Tourist in France’, being the Landscape Annual for 1834. Paper size 194 x 120 mm.
