Description

Robert Burns was born here in 1759. Sometime before his death in 1796, the cottage was sold to the Incorporation of Shoemakers of Ayr, one of whose members then turned it into an alehouse. Engraved by T. J. Kelley after the painting by D.O. Hill RSA for ‘The Land of Burns’ by John Wilson (Christopher North), and Robert Chambers. Published by Blackie & Son, Glasgow 1840. Paper size approx. 200 x 260 mm.
