Brow on the Solway



Burns visited here to bathe in salt water on the advice of his medical advisor Dr William Maxwell. Burns died three days after returning from Brow. Engraved by J. Appleton after the painting by David Octavius Hill (1802-1870) for ‘The Land of Burns’ by John Wilson (Christopher North), and Robert Chambers. Published by Blackie & Son, Glasgow 1840.
