Archibald Campbell, 1st Marquess of Argyll, 8th Earl of Argyll (1607-1661) Scottish nobleman, politician, and peer



This is an engraving of a lost portrait of c1644, attributed to George Jamesone, which was formerly at Castle Campbell. The painting, rediscovered in an estate cottage in about 1870, was destroyed in an 1877 fire at Inveraray Castle.
